Be who your dog thinks you are ..................

Good morning!

Saw the challenge theme this week over on the Allsorts Challenge and just couldn't resist joining in!

One of my biggest passions in life are my pets and my love of animals.  The loyalty that they have, the everlasting love that they show us, the confidence that they have in us and the dependence on us is to me, quite remarkable and humbling actually. This is probably why I owned a pet shop for 10 years!

I have two dogs, three cats, two chinchillas, tropical fish, an indoor rabbit and a cockatoo - not to mention three bird boxes in the garden that I am currently watching with blue tits flying in and out and a nest of three baby wood pigeons right outside one of the doors to the house in a lovely bay tree which is currently stopping me using that door! Don't ask how much wild bird food, peanuts, sunflower hearts and blue tit specialised food I get through!!!!

Well, back to this weeks challenge at Allsorts:-

"It's all about pets"

So here I have joined in with a card made using some old Sheena Douglass stamps which I think just hits the nail right on the head - this is one of my all time favourite stamps and I hope I've done it justice!

A dog, his master and the lead that he so wants to be taken out on. The look of "yes please" says it all...

Nothing can get between the bond between man and his best friend and the bond that I have with my own boys is as close as it gets - they make me smile every single day and they are my world.

I hope you like me entry in to the all sorts challenge, it's a cracking theme and one that I hold so very dear.

Thanks for stopping by today,

A paint fusioned box for my post...........

Hi there!

I've had a very rare moment away from my DT work to do some crafting for myself so thought I'd share it with you here today.

This is an mdf mail box by Crafters Companion that I have first crackled with a layer of acrylic paint, a layer of weathered wood and then a thin top coat of a lighter acrylic paint.  I have paint fusioned with acrylic paints.

For those of you not familiar with paint fusion - it's a technique taught by Sheena Douglass but it is the old fashioned way of folk painting.  Sheena brings it back to life in the form of rubber stamps that you stamp on to your work for guidance which gives you the images and then you use the folk painting techniques with paint to bring the rubber stamped images to life.

As it is going in to my kitchen to store everyones post as it arrives I thought I'd go with blackberries!

Very relaxing to do and this was a lovely project to complete.

As I have made this for myself and thought it was very pretty and useful, I will enter it into Stamping Sensations challenge this month of "One for the Girls" - well, it was one for me!!!!

Mid Month Reminder at Penny Black and More Challenges for Black and White Plus One......

Good morning!

Well, here we are, half way through April so it's time to remind you of this months current theme over at Penny Black and More Challenges which is

Black and White Plus One.

On this piece of art work I've used Penny Black stamps - 1999L Letter background, 30-416 Happy Thoughts, 40-137 Brick Wall and 40-511 Crimson Blush.

I've stamped this piece with Versafine onyx black ink and covered it quickly with clear embossing powder to seal it.

I stamped the sentiment with a clear versamark ink pad and topped that with black embossing powder so that it was nice and crisp.

The brick wall stamp has been stamped with the clear versamark pad and embossed with clear embossing powder to show the white of the paper underneath through it when I applied the aqua pen and glycerine.

My "plus one" is a Spectrum Noir aqua pen in the colour of spice which I have used diluted on the flower with a paint brush and with glycerine on the background so that the brick wall design came through nicely.

A white pen gave the final touches.

Do join us over at Penny Black and More Challenges

with our theme this month of Black and White Plus One.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR MAIN FOCAL IMAGE OF YOUR ART WORK MUST BE A HAND STAMPED IMAGE - NO DIGITAL IMAGES ALLOWED.

Thanks for stopping by and look out for our new challenge next month on the first Sunday in May!
